Catalytic and Regenerative Catalytic Systems
The NESTEC, Inc. catalytic oxidizers use both precious and base metal catalysts, depending upon the application. For systems using a beaded base metal catalyst our design utilizes a tray arrangement with a gas hourly space velocity of around 14,000. The above schematic shows how we segregate the trays to uniformly distribute the airflow through the catalyst trays. Furthermore, this system can be periodically cleaned by removing the beads and tumble cleaning then returning them back into the system. A small amount of make-up catalyst is typically required. NESTEC, Inc. will also coordinate the testing of the catalyst for activity. Regarding heat recovery, NESTEC, Inc. uses Des Champs plate type heat exchangers designed to minimize fuel consumption.
For Regenerative Catalytic systems, NESTEC, Inc. uses a precious metal catalyst coated onto the surface of ceramic materials. Both structured and random packing are offered depending upon the application. Standard catalyst systems requiring precious metal will utilize a monolith material and regenerative thermal oxidation systems typically require both precious and base metal catalysts using a coated random packing.
